Trevone Bay
Overview
Tristan is everything you could want in a beach house, and more. Stylish and sociable interiors provide ample room for family get-togethers and entertaining, and generous gardens give space for leg-stretching and sunbathing. Four beautiful bedrooms offer a variety of sleeping options, and three bathrooms ensure that there is room for everyone. All of this combined, just a short stroll from Trevone’s sandy bay, ensures that Tristan is the perfect base for your Cornish holiday.
Tristan is the house that keeps on giving, with a wide entrance hall that opens out as you travel through the property, revealing room after room. The first of the four bedrooms can be found as you enter and features French doors opening across the gardens to the sea, as well as a super king bed, ensuite with shower, double basins, WC and bidet, built-in wardrobes and a solid oak dressing table. Follow the first rise of stairs to bedrooms two and three, which can both be arranged as king size doubles or twin rooms with 2ft 6in beds, making Tristan equally practical for families, couples or groups of friends. Both are decorated in muted coastal tones and have wardrobes and solid oak dressing tables. These superb rooms have views to the side gardens, bringing a restful feel to the spaces, and share a large family bathroom with both bath and shower. The fourth king size bedroom is at the rear of the home, with large windows overlooking the rear garden and a contemporary ensuite with walk-in shower as well as built-in wardrobe and a solid oak dressing table. All bedrooms are generously proportioned and furnished with Hypnos beds and mattresses, chosen with a good night’s sleep firmly in mind.
Across the wide hallway you find the bright dining room, where a large table stretches almost end to end, seating 10 people comfortably. French doors lead to a raised decked area, providing the perfect spot for outdoor dining or a morning coffee. Through to the kitchen, where modern cabinetry in a stunning shade of blue surrounds a large island unit, a must when catering for the masses on holiday, or simply preparing picnics for days at the beach. The kitchen also has an informal table for breakfast, lunch or children’s meals. There is a double oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, additional under-counter fridge and plenty of cupboard storage for your shopping. The kitchen itself is extremely well equipped, with everything you might need in your home away from home, from a Nespresso machine to large cafetières. From cake tins, electric whisks and blenders to large casserole dishes and ice buckets! There is everything you might need to cater for every meal. A useful utility room sits off the kitchen with washing machine and tumble dryer, with further access to the surrounding gardens.
Follow the stairs to the mezzanine level, where you are greeted by sensational views of the horizon, with Trevose Head rising out of the sea. Flooded with coastal light from an enormous apex window, this stunning room is an entertainer’s paradise, with comfy sofas and a large (8ft) American pool table creating the perfect indoor relaxation zone. A superb balcony with comfy outdoor teak sofas and ocean views sits at the front of the home, capturing those incredible views over the bay and offering sensational sunset views. Up a few more steps is a TV snug, tucked away in the eaves of the house. This is the perfect bolthole for movie nights, or just to hide away and curl up with your holiday read on the large comfy sofas.
Tristan has an unusually generous outside space for a house so close to Trevone Beach. Large lawns to the front and rear leave plenty of space for children to play, garden games or simply finding a quiet corner with a book. Mature shrubs and planting give the garden a relaxed, established feel. Outside you’ll find two adjustable teak sun loungers, two reclining teak chairs, and a large table with seating for eight. A beach house must-have, a hot water outdoor shower, is the perfect addition for when you have come straight from the beach. A large driveway with parking for four cars means coming and going is easy.
The large rear garden has a tall secure fence surrounding it and there are outdoor dog washing facilities. The miles of nearby coastal walks make it an excellent base for a holiday with dogs. Newtrain Beach welcomes dogs throughout the year, while Trevone Beach has seasonal restrictions.
Tristan has gas central heating throughout and unlimited high-speed fibre Wi-Fi broadband, which also extends into the gardens.
Families with young children are well catered for, with two IKEA highchairs, a booster seat and a Hauck travel cot available, along with stairgates that can be fitted to the bedroom doors (the design of the staircase itself means a gate can’t be fitted across the stairs).
Leave Tristan, walk down the road, and within around two minutes you can be on the sand at Trevone Bay. It makes beach days extraordinarily easy. There is no need to pack the car or organise the whole family for an expedition: head down for a morning swim, come home for lunch, wander back in the afternoon and return again for an evening on the beach.
Trevone is particularly good for families, surfing and traditional beach days, while neighbouring Newtrain Beach is fantastic for rock pooling and exploring at low tide. Tristan even has a tide timetable in the hallway to help plan your adventures (essential for timing your trip to Tinker Bunny’s sea swimming pool!).
Down by the beach, Trevone Bay Surf Store offers surf, kayak, paddleboard and wetsuit hire alongside beach essentials, delicious food and refreshments. Bruno’s is a great option for an evening drink, with live music regularly featured during the summer.
Trevone Farm Shop is a short walk away for bread, pastries, local produce, prepared meals and holiday essentials, while Padstow and its huge choice of shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants are only a short drive away.
If you’d rather leave the car behind, join the coast path and walk towards Padstow via Hawker’s Cove, or head in the opposite direction towards Harlyn and Trevose Head.
